International Skills Diploma Seal

Introduction

Alpharetta Tamil School has been chosen to participate in the prestigious International Skills Diploma Seal (ISDS) program in the State of Georgia. Additionally, our Tamil language is recognized as one of the eligible global languages for earning the ISDS. This milestone is a proud moment for our school, providing significant recognition of our students’ efforts in learning Tamil and their contributions to our community.

The purpose of the ISDS

The Georgia International Skills Diploma Seal (ISDS) is awarded to graduating high school students who have excelled in their studies of world languages, cultures, and international education. It is a seal affixed to a high school diploma, signaling to colleges and employers that your children have engaged in courses and extracurricular activities fostering global competencies. Your children can proudly showcase how they have grown as global citizens!

Benefits of ISDS

This program provides an opportunity for ATS alumni teen volunteers who are high school seniors (12th graders) to earn the ISDS in recognition of their dedication to world languages during high school. As part of a pilot program, this academic year, ATS and South Forsyth High School are working together to establish a standardized process at the state level for the Tamil language. In the coming years, all ATS alumni high school 12th grade teen volunteers from other schools will have the opportunity to earn the ISDS.

Eligibility Requirements

ATS alumni high school 12th grade teen volunteers must complete the following:

  • At least three credits in the same world language.
  • One additional credit in a different world language (Tamil language credit).
  • At least four credits in courses with an international focus and at least four extracurricular activities involving global themes or contexts (students will be briefed on these courses and activities).
  • At least 20 hours of community service involving a global/cross-cultural public service project (Tamil school volunteering is eligible for this requirement).
  • capstone presentation (7–8 minutes) summarizing the knowledge gained from the courses and activities listed above.

ISDS Recipients

It is our pride to list our Tamil School students who have already received the ISDS.  Earning the ISDS is not that easy pathway.  But with years of learning, taking courses focused on international pathway, fostering cross-cultural leadership and hard work it is possible for high school seniors.  Congratulations to all the recipients.  It is noteworthy that Five of our Tamil school students from South Forsyth HS are the first to earn the ISDS for Tamil in the State of Georgia in 2025. We would like to thank Anbu Vincent, our Assistant Principal who initiated this and got it approved with the Forsyth School System. Our heartfelt thanks to Raja Venugopal, our Associate Principal and Pavithra Natarajan, our Teen Volunteer Coordinator for their certification, verification and documentation efforts in support to HS seniors to earn the ISDS Seal.
